CanvasCal is still in private testing. Here's what's actively being built, and a couple of ideas we're still just exploring.
Sync automatically when you open Canvas, or on a schedule, using chrome.alarms. The settings toggles already exist in the UI, but the background trigger itself is still being wired up.
Only assignments with due dates sync today. Quiz, exam, and discussion due dates are shown as “Soon” in the UI and are next in line.
Canvas sync currently fetches one page of up to 100 courses and assignments, plenty for a normal semester, but accounts with more will need this to avoid silent truncation.
Canvas assignments already sync automatically, but exam dates and final exam timeframes often only live in a course syllabus, not as a due date. Exploring whether that can be scanned and added to your calendar too. This would likely be a small paid add-on rather than free, since it costs a bit to process each syllabus, but the cost is tiny, so it'd stay cheap. Still just an idea, not committed to a release yet.
