A small badge on the extension icon if it's been about a week since your last sync, so a forgotten popup doesn't quietly leave your calendar out of date. Opening the popup would explain how long it's been and offer to sync right there.

Ideas we're still considering.
Canvas assignments already sync automatically, but exam dates and final exam timeframes often only live in a course syllabus, not as a structured due date. Canvas does expose a syllabus text field per course, so the idea is to scan that (and possibly attached files) to pull out exam and final dates and add them to your calendar alongside your assignments. Coverage would vary since not every instructor fills in that field the same way, and this would likely be a small paid add-on rather than free, since it costs a bit to process each syllabus, but the cost is tiny, so it'd stay cheap. Still just an idea, not committed to a release yet.
A paid tier, maybe $1.99 a month or $10 to $15 a year, sitting on top of everything the free version already does. Automatic background syncing is already included for free. Possible paid perks include support for multiple calendar feeds if you want separate links for different course groups, custom colors per assignment or course, more granular filtering so you only sync exactly what you want, richer notification and reminder options, and other advanced features added over time. Still just an idea, not committed to a release yet.
